JANUARY SUMMARY & LINKS
First of all: how sweet you guys are! It always makes me so happy when you write encouraging words to me on instagram and here on the blog! I'm not very comfortable in talking about myself on a personal level or appear in front of the camera, so it means a lot that you seemed to appreciate that last post about myself. Even if this is first and foremost a food blog, an honest and personal touch is important to me.That makes it more interesting to read I think. I'm feeling a little extra sensitive and touched today by your always so amazing response to the content of this blog. It might be that I was out late yesterday and feeling a little worn and fragile today, or that I just watched an incredible documentary (more about that further down) that really stirred up all those big thoughts and emotions you know.January has been a strange month. When I came back from Australia I had so much inspiration to get started with new projects! But then I just couldn't find my way back to my normal routines. Everything I did felt like swimming against the current. I can't sleep properly, I have a chronic cold lurking in the back, everything takes twice as long to finish and most of the ideas of collaborations and such that I've pitched to different people has either been unanswered or met with an indifferent shrug of the shoulders. I've had a couple of "YES! What a great idea!" too, but somehow the failures tend to occupy my mind the most. I still feel very curious about everything fun that I know this year has to offer, but it's like I'm still waiting for the right circumstances to get started if you know what I mean? Can you also feel the disappointment in January when all your plans for the new year turns out to be so much harder to pursue than you thought? There's something with January. I'm always so tired. And my ambitions are way too high in comparison to what I actually have time and energy for. I think it's important to remind oneself that you don't have to fit everything that you want to do into one and the same day. There are still years to come to do all those projects, read all those books, get that driver's license, travel to this place or meet that friend. So today I'm putting everything else aside, spending the day in bed. Watching random things on the computer. Eating chocolate. And starting again tomorrow. There's always tomorrow. My best music to listen to when I need to slow down and reconnect with my thoughts and emotions again is this soundtrack. The fact that it makes you feel like you're in an melancholic 1960's movie is just a nice side effect ; )Before we get to the link love of this month, below are a couple of photos I took on a particularly cinematic evening walk through Stockholm when it snowed so heavily I was afraid my camera would get water damaged. That night Stockholm reminded me of spooky children's stories and the fantasy novels I disappeared into as a teenager. It was truly otherworldly.I have so many links to share with you guys this month! The foodie blogosphere is truly vibrating of inspiration and creativity right now. This past month I've been crushing on:- This band- This green thai-style dressing!- The photos from Maria's Iceland trip are <3<3<3- Swedish Semmelwraps? Love stories about strong, solitary women leaving everything behind and heading out on dreadful escapades!- The fact that Saga Becker became the first transgender to win the Swedish golden globe award (guldbagge) for best female actress (5:30 in) for her role as Sebastian/Ellie in this movie I was crushing on in last month's summary & links! Historic moment <3- The documentary about Laleh. I'm honestly beyond words. What an incredible, amazing and unreal person she is. So loving and insightful. Moments that's just too much for me: when she sings 21:25 min in. The fragility and closeness in her voice is - is - just is! And when she sings The Winner Takes It All with Benny Andersson at (1:01:10) and breaks down because her mother never got to experience that moment :'C :'C :'C See this documentary! I hope one can find it with English subtitles soon.xo AgnesAll photographs, recipes and content are Cashew Kitchen originals, unless otherwise indicated.
