January Diary + Link Love

December/January | Cashew KitchenWhen did I last post one of these monthly summary posts? It must have been October. I don't know why I stopped. But I know I've missed spreading link love, and playing around with photo collages. This month I went a little crazy and did 10 (!) of them haha. For this post I only picked 5 though. As I was assembling them, I though about how incredibly valuable it will be in the future, having all this documentation of our surroundings and our day to day life to look back on.I've always had a hard time remembering sequences from the past. Places, people, conversations. When and where certain events took place. I think my mind has its own way of sorting information. My memories comes in flashes of images, smells, phrases and songs. Sometimes I group them together even though they happened years apart. For example, I can sum up my high school years in 5 signifiers: cinnamon tea, the smiths, joanna, heartbeats & autumn. It is always autumn. This blog is in a way my photo album and diary combined, helping me remember when my mind gets old and blurry.December/January | Cashew KitchenNow when we only have about 2 months left to stay in this beloved cabin in the woods, I notice the beauty of our surroundings much more. Bring my camera out for a walk daily. Group all my errands in town into one and the same day so that I can stay here for as many days of the week as possible. Desperately trying to become a morning person again, so that I can be ready to run down to the docks when one of those magical sunrises happen.December/January | Cashew KitchenSacrifice weekend parties so that we can be up early, fill a backpack with hot chocolate, muffins and sandwiches and hop on the bus for the 10 min ride to the nature reserve at the furthest tip of the island. Stay there until the sun sets.December/January | Cashew KitchenSince I haven't posted one of these link love posts in a while, I'm gonna link a bit more freely to things I've read & loved over the past 2-3 months.

January Link Love

This Kickstarter project - Stedsans in the woods - sounds like a dream. And best of all: this restaurant, cabins and permaculture farm will be built in Sweden! Seeing their wonderful video makes me wanna buy an old piece of land somewhere and just start... something!Around Christmas time, Hannah & I baked several pans of this hearthy & rosemary scented lentil & potato stew. We even served it on Christmas Eve. Laura's recipes always makes me wanna curl up with a blanket, sip on something warm and flipp through a favorite cookbook while taking notes on ideas I wanna try <3Renee's super green miso soup sounds like the perfect warming winter meal, and I can't get over how magical her writing is. If Laura's recipes makes me wanna get cosy, Renee's blog posts brings out my desire to create and fully explore what I can dream up if I only let myself. All things pancakes seems to draw my attention right now. The simpler the better. If they can be made out of leftovers - win! Marta's millet pancakes both looks amazing and sounds delicious.Sandra's porridge pancakes also caught my eye last week. We love to make pancakes in the weekend, but I absolutely hate it when breakfast takes ages to prepare and it's already lunch by the time you sit down to eat. SO, next time I'll make sure to have extra oatmeal in the fridge ready to be transformed into pancakes!Louise writes about quitting social media, and nothing could've felt more urgent to me than this. Since I read the article I've been paying extra attention to my social media patterns, and I'm currently working out a strategy for how to manage my social channels without being struck by daily information overload.Louise also wrote an open letter from your introverted girlfriend, and I sent it straight to Hannah, he he...Rania writes so insightful about her intentions for 2017, and all I can say is AMEN to that!Moeko's date tahini caramel looks insanely creamy, and I'm dying to try it out (and put it on everything). Also, this girl's photography is making me curious, growing on me like an idea I'm itching to explore. A newfound blog jewel! Also, check out her instagram -> @mmmokyNina's Loyal Lentil Chili has quickly made it's way into our hearts, and I've cooked it three times over the past three weeks. Seriously. it's. so. good.  I can't wait for her book Bowls of Goodness to arrive at my doorstep so I can soak up every single recipe, photograph and word <3Mary writes about her one little word for the year - health - and I agree on every point. I haven't "officially" picked a word for the year, but in my heart it is my wellbeing that I'm focusing on. Wellbeing in my physical health, as well as in my relationships and work. I've had enough of compromises and I'm ready to embrace my non-negotiables.
