Who am I and what is my background in photography?
If you’re new to Cashew Kitchen, here’s a short presentation of myself! My name is Agnes, and since 2014 I’ve been blogging about food and creativity here at Cashew Kitchen. I have a background in Fine Arts & Art Theory, but as a photographer I am self-taught. I’ve definitely learnt this craft the hard way. Since mid 2013 when I first picked up my camera and started photographing food, I’ve learned a thing or two about light, composition, photo editing and how to tell a compelling story through images.
In January 2015 I registered my company and started freelancing as a recipe developer, food stylist & food photographer. Since then I’ve worked with Swedish as well as international clients. I’ve taught workshops in food styling & visual storytelling. And in October 2016 Cashew Kitchen made it to the finals in the Swedish Food Blog Awards, category Best Photography.
In November 2016 I launched my email course in Food Styling & Photography, and we are now up in over 1200 participants! If you haven’t taken the course yet, this is a great way to start out. Think of the coaching package as the next step, where we dive into your own work and map out a strategy for you to bring your photography closer to your vision.

Is this service available worldwide?
Of course! As long as you speak sufficient English (or Swedish) so that we can communicate with each other :-)
How will this service help me?
Whether you are just starting out, or have been photographing food for a while, you can probably relate to the struggles of producing work that live up to your vision. Ever watched this video and felt like ”YES, that’s exactly how it feels!”?
Sometimes it can feel impossible to unlock the specific qualities of that perfect food photograph that you are envisioning. Why is it that my pictures feel so cluttered or imbalanced or unappealing? How do I achieve that eye-catching quality and balance in my photographs? You have such a clear image in your head of how you want your photographs to look and feel, but you have no idea how to get there, or why your photographs are not living up to your vision. Sounds familiar?
By learning about your vision and problem areas, I can tailor the coaching to suit your needs. May it be styling, lighting, photo editing, which camera settings to use for certain results or the delicate art of visual storytelling.
I’m greatly fascinated by images and I love analyzing how certain light qualities effect the ambiance in a photograph, or how a slight change in styling can create balance and harmony. Through this coaching, I will provide you with the advice and tools you need to get closer to the photographic expression you’re envisioning. With my experience within the food photography field I can help you pinpoint what areas you need to work on in order to ”close the gap” between ambition and outcome.
What happens after I book my coaching session?
Upon booking your spot, you will be asked to answer some questions regarding your background and your expectations on our conversation. After that I will get in touch with you over email to confirm your booking. We will then schedule a time for the coaching call, and an invoice for the total amount of the coaching will be sent to you over email (due 14 days later).
Then you will choose 3 of your own food photographs, to use as a starting point for our conversation. These are to be sent to me at least 4 business days before our call, so that I can prepare detailed feedback and design your toolkit.
What is expected of me as a client?
No previous knowledge is required. I’m here to guide you through it all! However, you do need to have at least 3 food photographs that you’ve styled and photographed yourself, so that we have something to base our conversation on.
If you have taken my 5 day email course in food styling, that’s great! Then you know the basics and we can dive deeper during our coaching call. Although it’s not a requirement.
It is up to you what you do with the advice I give you, but for best result I would recommend you to implement the tips as soon as possible. That way you also have the opportunity to get back to me with follow-up questions within the timeframe we are working together.
Time-wise, you need to be able to invest 10-15 minutes answering some questions and picking out your photographs before our 60 min coaching call. These photos are to be sent to me at least 4 business days before our call. After our coaching call and follow-up email conversation I will ask you to leave some feedback regarding your experience of working with me. This is totally optional, but it would be of great help for me.
So, you call me or I call you…?
The coaching session is done over Skype. I will call you ;-) All our contact outside of the coaching call is done over email. Payment is handled via invoice, that you will receive over email.
What if I need to re-schedule my coaching call last-minute?
I want to make this process as convenient for you as possible. If you need to re-schedule due to #lifehappens, then of course we will find another time! However, I would appreciate it if you let me know as soon as possible.
What if I change my mind after booking or I’m not happy with the result?
Your happiness and satisfaction is my number one priority. If you feel disappointed in the result of the coaching, then of course I will give you a 100% refund.
You also have the right to cancel your booking up to 14 days after booking, without stating a reason. The booking is registered from the moment you receive a confirmation email from me.
If you have any questions before booking your spot, then you’re very welcome to email me at agnes [dot] gallhagen [at] gmail [dot] com.
